Rental Tips




1. The PRTB (Private Residential Board) was established in September 2004, this act provides for reform of residential landlord and tenant law, based on recommendations of the Commission on the Private Rented Residential Sector. Each Landlord must register their rental property with the PRTB which cost €70 per tenancy within 1month of the start date of the lease, double penalties and large fines can be imposed for non compliance of same. The PRTB will exchange Data on tenancies with local authorities and the Department of Social & Family Affairs and will provide particulars to the Revenue Commissioners as requested.

2. Make sure your property is adequately insured to include landlord/tenant public liability.
